Modi Documents

Approximately 60 documents in Modi (Marathi) script exist at the National Archives. These are documents written by the Marathi rulers at Tanjore, to the Governemnt at Tranquebar. Elisabeth Strandberg had transcribed and translated all these documents ("The Modi documents from Tanjore in Danish Collections", Elisabeth Strandberg, Franz-Steiner Verlag, Wiesbaden, 1983). This page shows some of the documents that I have photographed.

Several more documents exist at the Saraswathi Mahal library, Tanjore.
